Accidents happen anytime, anywhere and so quickly no matter how careful a driver is. The unfortunate part of it is that it causes damages and injuries to both life and property. Putting property and life back to its normal state is another burden physically and financially. Insurance is considered a help in this times. But filing an insurance claim sometimes is also a trouble. Here are some of the problems one may encounter when processing for a claim and tips how to avoid them.

• Failure to contact your car insurance company: The first and foremost thing to do after the accident is to call your insurer to report the incident. Do not wait. Postponing might cause your claim to be void. Insurance companies have time limit to be informed if accident happens. Usually their type of business is open for 24 hours help line. While reporting, ask your insurer what should be the things you are supposed to do and the evidences they want you to provide them.

• Absence of a police report: Police report is very critical in this situation. Absence of this may make your claim more difficult. So no matter how serious or light the injury or damage is, always request for a written report to establish a record for the incident. If you are being interrogated by police officers for reporting purposes, tell them the truth what really happened. Fraudulence may result in the denial of your claim.

• Inadequacy of information: Pertinent information should be gathered and supplied. Even if your are still dazed after the incident, try to collect all facts such as: driver s name, address and plate number, passenger s name and addresses, telephone numbers of people involved plus the witnesses, names and addresses of registered vehicle owners, names of insurance company and their policy numbers, exact location of the car accident, details of how the accident happened, write down any apparent injuries and damages to the car and if possible pictures. If this information is not complete, it may impede the speedy transaction of the case.

• Presence of disagreement: This happens sometimes if your insurance company does not want to settle some of your claims. In some cases, claims with vague explanation in your policy will not be entertained. And sometimes the settlement is only to the insurance company s gain. If this happens, review your insurance policy and read your claims on accidents. You may get a legal advice also if you think you are left behind with doubts.

After you file your claim an adjuster will be assigned to you who will examine every possible aspect of the case and forward a report to the company. Based on his reports the insurance company will proceed with the necessary formalities before the case is concluded. Car insurance claim is generally a lengthy procedure and may take a long time depending upon the nature of the case and processing manner of the company.

These are some of the problems one may experience when filing for a car insurance claim. Now that you know some of the problems that might be involved you have to remember and execute it.
